Proud to be a part of this publication, and special thanks to Dr. Keen for his efforts.  My training at Loma Linda University Medical Center included an intense experience in pediatric neurosurgery.   Children can suffer devastating cervical spine injuries in car accidents due to their immature anatomy; proportionally larger heads and weak ligaments connecting the skull base to the cervical spine.  It is great that we are developing ways to treat these injuries, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.   Please properly restrain your children in the car.  Hyperlinks below:
